Its one thing after another.
Ok, so my mac crashed on me a few days ago and been tryin to see what the problem is but the people at the Apple store couldnt do much. Just yesterday my Wacom Tablet fell on the floor, not that hard by the way, and just frigging stopped working. I think its something telling me to go back to traditional art for a while. It just sucks that all that money is going down the drain. Its just stuff right? Well, I need to get those fixed asap. I had this huge advertisement project to work on and that happens so I just stayed in the office all weekend and worked from here. Using the mouse sucks!! Just pretty bummed. So yeah, Im not going to be able to post stuff on here for a while.

Another quick scene painting

Here is another scene painting from a movie. I usually take a scene or a couple and create a single scene out of them. These are basically used for practice and they're fun to do. Ive worked on plenty of storyboards that are quite rough. Im tryin to figure out a way where I can basically draw storyboards more tightened and colored like this. I just have to figure out a way to give it a finished look and only take 30 minutes on each board. The boards Ive been doing for a while now are just basic line drawings as well as more exaggerated. I did this one in a few hours last night. We'll see how my storyboards evolve as I incorporate this technique into them.

Another IDOT commercial
THis one has been on tv a few times already. Kinda cool seeing it on the tele. I like how they kept all these commercial spots close to the storyboards Ive drawn out.
IDOT Commercial
Here is one of a few commercials I've done for IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation). I worked on the storyboard process for these commercials. I'll have the actual storyboards once I find them in my documents or I have to retrieve them from Lou Beres, the ad agency the gave me the jobs to work on these. Very grateful. Thanks guys.

Present day Morrissey

Took a little longer painting this one tonight. Man am I tired. Its like 6am and time for bed. Wish I could do my art earlier hours. Its all worth it once I get a good piece done. Trying to think of something for tomorrow night. Maybe I should get back to my oils later on today. Still need to finish this portrait I was commissioned for. Well, hope you all like this one, cause I sure do.

Robert Pattinson from Twilight.

Well, Im finally back. Took a little break from my own work. Been pretty busy with other things. This guy is always posing with his face. Every magazine you see him in or on he has that same sunken face or Zoolander expression from what my friend told me. I kept it kinda monotone as he was seen in the movie. He is a pretty good actor though. Go check out Little Ashes. He plays a young version of Salvador Dali. Well, hope you all like it. I really didnt spend too much time on this one cause I wanted to hurry up and post something asap.

Be right back.
Been busy with a few projects lately but I will be back shortly. Been working on this commercial for the Illinois Department of Transportation. Also working on a print ad for XM Radio called Reach MD. Its a station to give doctors more info about medical use. Working on these projects through an ad agency I've been with for some time now called Lou Beres and Associates. Thank god for these projects due to the fact that a lot of creative departments everywhere have been taking a dive with layoffs and such. Should have more caricatures very soon as well as a couple more oils Ive been in the process of finishing. Taking a little break from my own art at the moment.

Bono

I love love U2. Still on a roll of doing my series of caricatures. This one was a pleasure to work on. The jacket was a pain because of all the texture in the leather. Spent a couple night on this, might do some more touch ups to it later. Had to finish tonight so I could send it to my mom for her birthday later today. The next one will be of a couple people in a setting or in some kinda pose. After that I figured I'd do an entire scene with a background and everything. Just to show I can do pretty much anything. Its just the timing on these takes a while and I do have a day job, which sucks by the way cause all I want to do is draw and paint.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!
Turning 29 today. Wow, almost 30. I'm actually looking forward to my 30's. Hope they're more stable than my 20's. I'm so glad to grow older and wiser. It's nice aging gracefully, still look like Im 23 or something but not after a night of drinking.

Mickey Rourke caricature

I've been a fan of this guy for a long time. Such a man's man but come on with the vanity. The unbelievable facelift this guy had is kinda unbearable. This was a lot of fun to work on. Still working at trying to unload these finished works accurately of the original as possible. It just will not let me upload in CMYK. Still working on those obstacles. Any ideas?

Witherspoon is done.

Worked on this about two nights total. Just a quick caricature of Reese Witherspoon. I think she is very beautiful and a talented actress but I had to play on those certain features of hers. This was friggin hilarious to work on. Still trying to figure out how to post my work as the orginal, CMYK. But I can only post these in RGB color and they dont come out that colorful as they look originally.

Ohh Yes It's Reese

Had to do it. I love this girl but she has such features you can play on. I just started cracking up once I started this. Cant wait to finish it. Should have it done by Saturday. Wish I didnt have a regular job so I could just play with my art every day. Well just started this one. Oh.... about two hours into this one. Shouldn't be no longer than another couple hours to have it finshed. I'm going to do a series of caricatures of actors that I see certain traits in. Im thinking the next one is going to be Mickey Rourke. One of my favorite actors but the dude has had his face stretch back a bit too much. Thats going to be a lovely time working on him. Might add a few props in there with him as well. Basically right now Im working on faces. I'll the rest of their bodies in there later as well as a background every so often.

Obama caricature
Started this piece last night before I was going to bed but ended up staying awake til 7am. Thats is my peal hours or working on my art, from 11pm til 5am. Seven in the morning is stretching it. I was going to work on these oil paintings that I started last week but ended up getting hooked on the computer again. Just working on my caricature stuff so maybe I can get some work with certain magazines. We'll see once I start sending stuff off soon. I'm thinking about doing a variety of Obama. Also I want to work on many other individual celebrities and politicians as caricatures. Maybe try to knock one out every other day.

The Caribbean
Been working on this one for my aunt for some time now. My aunt goes to the Caribbean about twice a year. Everytime they're there they can't find any artwork they want to bring back with them so her and her husband ended commissioning me to do a painting for them. I put together a few photographs they gave me and made a composition from them. I was pleased with it but I could use a lot more practice, therefore I am going back to oils for a while or maybe I need to mix things up every once in a while. Been doing a lot of computer work as well. The photo is kinda blurry due to the fact that I still don't know how to photograph my paintings yet. Someone told me to take a photo of it in indirect sunight but its winter and there's not much sun around right now, plus its freezing out there to mess around photographing stuff. Maybe I just need a better camera.

Superhero Kayla Jane

This girl is very inspiring. It is a pleasure to paint her. Figure I'd turn her into a superhero, just an idea I had for one of her photos. The flames are a bit rough cause I dont have much practice painting fire but the piece in its entirety came out decent I think. I'll be using much more of her for more promotional pieces to come. Thanks Kayla.

Almost Finished

Just a sneak peek at this one. Almost finished, just have to finish up a few detailed spots as you can see here. Maybe tweek the eyes and add some more hair strands. Its a pain to paint so much to figure out when you take away your under drawing from the layers to find out that you have to add a lot more paint to the picture, it drives you mad considering how much time just went into it. I've also had a very bad chest cold so I had to take a couple days off.

Kayla Jane Super Hero
Just a quick sketch I did of my friend Kayla. She does a lot of modeling so I thought I'd take one of her shots for a clothing designer and change the entire outfit making her into a superhero. Changed up her pose a little as well. Started painting it in Photoshop last night. Should have it done by tomorrow hopefully. As long as I dont start on something else, ADD is a bitch for artists, well sometimes.

Presidential Candidates Illustration

Finally finished with this one. It took me forever its seems like. Pulled a few all-nighters. I definately need to get up to speed but I was also working on a couple of other things as well, such as the Paul Newman and a couple oil paintings in progress. I am very proud of this one. Going to send it out to a few political mags and some others.
THis one shows how Biden and Palin were taking the spotlight away from McCain and Obama, I love how they are behind the curtain with certain confused or aggressive expressions on there faces. I made them two more caricature like than Palin and Biden for the same reason. Thanks for the idea Jason.

PALIN

Here's a little taste of what I am working on from the political sketch I did of the presidential candidates. It is taking forever to get this one done but it just might be my best illustration yet. There is so much to paint. This is a little part of Palin, I think its coming along nicely, still have a lot to work on her. Should have the rest done by the end of this week.

Kayla Jane Sketch
Vice President Candidates in Spotlight

Here is a drawing of the Vice Presidential Candidates and the two Presidential Candidates in the background. This would be used for an editorial piece showing how Palin and Biden are taking the spotlight away from McCain and Obama. Started working on the painting recently and should be finished soon. I made some modifications with the help from my buddy Jason. The heads of Obama and McCain are more caricature like than the ones you see here. Jason is also the one who gave me this project to do. I'm trying to create more self promo pieces so I can get out there to find more freelance work. I do have plenty but trying to weed out everything I created in school. This is definately a fun project but very time consuming. Trust me, when its done you'll know why.

Joker piece finished

Well, I suppose it did take a bit to finish this one but I do have two jobs, one drawing tons of storyboards and the other dealing with rich snobs at this restaurant which is actually pretty cool to work at. Just cant wait til I can just do this for a living. On with that, check out the Joker. Kept it gritty and kinda loose. Played around making some new brushes in Photoshop. Had a great time painting this one. I have to see this movie again very soon, maybe tonight. Cheers!

Sienna Portrait Finished

Been very busy with multiple tasks lately between two jobs and trying to do these practice pieces or self promo pieces. I"m in the process of working on a few things lately but I finally finished this portrait of Sienna Miller who I think is a very beautiful and talented actor. My approach with this is just to get better at painting with photoshop.
Just a few thoughts.
I'll probably post a bunch of my older stuff before I put up all the new things I've done or am working on just to see a progression. I just want a big change and am in the process of doing that with my art. We'll see what comes out of this drastic change.

Indiana Jones caricature

Something I did last year once I heard that Harrison Ford was doing another Indiana Jones. I know, he is still in great shape and Indiana is an American icon but I had to poke fun at the idea of how old he is. This was a lot of fun to do. Another illustration done in photoshop. I'll post some that I have done in oils once I am brave enough to show them. Hope you all like this one.

Sienna Miller portrait...

A portrait of Sienna Miller I am currently working on. Will have it finished very soon. Just doing some practicing with Photoshop and still trying to find faster ways to work and to keep up with my art since I did graduate art school back in December. I am in the process of working on five illustrations at once just to get back into the swing of things. Been working on storyboards since I did graduate but have not done any finished work.
